Bentley S1 James Young

Year:  1958

This stylish sports saloon is believed to be 1 of 6 RHD cars to be produced by the coach builder James Young. Finished in
Tudor Grey over Oxford Blue with Beige hide piped in dark blue with beige wool head lining and carpets with traditional
burr walnut veneers.

This car is offered with a comprehensive history file having copies of the original build sheets and the cars early history

The chassis was built in 1956 and James Young completed the coach work in 1958, then finished in Velvet Green with
Grey Hide. Jack Barclay supplied the vehicle to its first owner; Arthur Holmes of Harrogate. Jack Barclay sold it twice
again, the last time in 1963 and sometime after that, the car was exported to the USA. It was then returned to the UK
around 1989/1990 and entrusted to a leading specialist for restoration. From the history file and also inspection of the
car we can see they completed a comprehensive restoration to a high standard with the addition of air conditioning and
refinishing it in the current colour scheme, resulting in its excellent condition today.

We note from the history file the restoration work was completed with a speedometer reading of 78,758 miles, now
